Evening events: The Popes' Palace by night!

The Popes' Palace and the Saint Bénezet Bridge both open their doors at night in August. Visitors are invited to enjoy an unusual walk, concert or dinner at the Popes' Palace.

Enjoy a sunset walk from the bridge to the palace: Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays in August at 7.30 pm!

The sunset walk: an opportunity to find out more about the legend of the famous Pont d'Avignon and the secrets of the Popes' Palace with a walk along the ramparts and the Rocher des Doms gardens in the delightful atmosphere of a summer evening. This special guided tour for a small number of visitors gives pride of place to the anecdotes and little stories that together make up the great history of Avignon, the unparalleled capital of Christianity in the 14th century. This exceptional evening includes an aperitif and chance to taste Côtes du Rhône wines especially selected by the Bouteillerie and ends with a mediaeval-inspired dinner served at nightfall in the gallery of the cloisters in the Popes' Palace. A guided tour through the town provides an opportunity to explore the streets of mediaeval Avignon, finding out more about the cardinals' liveries, chapels, squares and narrow streets that recall the architecture and everyday life of the Middle Ages (markets, trades and more).
